The Saratoga Jewish Festival featured a Klezmer/Kosher Festival hosted by Clifton Park Chabad at the Shmaltz Brewery. Visitors enjoyed favorite delicacies, including Bubbies pickles, Trader Joe's Babka & latkes, Matzo Ball soup, House of Glatt wings, Taste & Tradition kugel, Dr. Prager's veggie burgers, Whitefish spread & crackers, Reismans pastries, Streits matzah, Saratoga chips, Goldbaums gluten free snacks, Dr. Brown's cream soda, and of course Shmaltz brewed He'brew beer. Melodious Rhythms of 'Kleine klezmer' music put a beat in one's step as the beer tasting room filled with people, and Cellist Will Hayes added chassidic tunes. Raffle prizes, proceeds to benefit toys for Israeli children in bomb shelters, included Hyatt place Malta, Honest Weight Food Coop and Shop rite gift baskets. Humorous & informative tours of the brewery led participants through the state of the art beer factory. Men gave a hands up to Israel with Tefillin and women took Shabbat candles for Friday Lighting. We thank all the above mentioned companies for helping raise the kosher awareness in the area. The Hebrew word kosher means "fit." Throughout the 3,300-year Jewish history, kosher observance has been a hallmark of Jewish identity, transforming even mundane eating into a Divine Jewish experience.
