In commemoration of the upcoming thirteenth yartzeit of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneersohn, of blessed memory, Capital Region Chabad Centers welcome a long-time member of the Rebbe’s Secretariat, Rabbi Leibel Groner, for a communal talk “Remembering the Rebbe: An Inside Story.”
The Rebbe’s yarzteit on the third day of Tammuz, this year on June 19th, has become a day of reflection and connection to the Rebbe’s unique vision and teaching.
The Rebbe a scholar, philosopher and mystic of the highest order, standing in direct line of receivership of the 4,000 year-old wisdom of Torah, handed down from prophet to teacher, from rabbi to Rebbe, from the days of Abraham and Moses.
The Rebbe's body of teaching embraces the entire spectrum of Torah, from the deepest secrets of Kabbalah to practical counsel in everyday living. It's all there: the profundity of the Talmud, the music of Psalms, the passion of Chassidism.
A VIGNETTE OF THE REBBE
Since 1986, every Sunday, the Rebbe would stand and greet men, women and children who came to receive his blessing. Rebbe would give each a dollar bill, appointing them to be a shliach to give it to the charity of their choice. The Rebbe explained: “When two people meet, something good should result for a third.”
The Rebbe would stand for as long as eight hours without interruption. Once, an elderly woman could not contain herself exclaimed: "Rebbe, how do you do it? Don’t you tire?" The Rebbe smiled and replied: "Every soul is a diamond. Can one grow tired of counting diamonds?"
